Introducing PickleBall IQ
We obsess over technique and gear. We drill the flick, debate the roll, and chase the most powerful “magic” paddle — yet progress often stalls. Why? Because most plateaus are not about your hands or your graphite. They’re about decisions.
Strategy, court placement, and building the point are the missing links for many players. That’s where PickleBall IQ (PIQ) comes in.
What PIQ Measures
PIQ is a rapid, scenario‑based check of your on‑court decision‑making. In a few minutes, you’ll respond to common situations across:
- Serve and return choices
- Third/fifth ball selection and tempo
- Neutral vs. defensive patterns
- Transition footwork/targeting
- Finishing discipline (when to speed up — and when not to)
- Partner dynamics and simple geometry
Your answers are scored into a DUPR‑style band that reflects your current “court IQ” — how reliably you choose high‑EV options, not how hard you hit.
Why This Matters
Hands improve with reps; IQ improves with intent. Better decisions change rallies immediately: fewer free points, better court coverage, and more predictable progress when you do train technique.
What It’s Not
PIQ does not analyze your mechanics and it doesn’t prescribe personalized drills (yet). It’s a clear snapshot of decision‑making skill you can revisit as you improve.
