About
Why this exists
I keep seeing players copy a pro’s tape layout — the famous Ben Johns Perseus setup, or Paris Todd wrapping a Franklin C45 like a mummy — and then wondering why it doesn’t feel right. Their build, swing, paddle, and goals aren’t yours. The right setup should serve your game, not someone else’s.
The core insight
Balance point dominates how a paddle swings and feels. Even a grip change (e.g., switching to a Hesacore) can shift balance enough to throw off timing. Match balance point well and nearly any paddle can be made to feel like another — then refine with where the mass sits for stability, spin, or power.
Examples:
- Gearbox paddles tend to ship with higher balance points; to mimic more neutral sticks you’ll often counterweight at the throat/handle while easing mass up high.
- If your resets feel late, you’re probably too head‑heavy for your reaction speed; if drives die, you may need more upper‑hoop mass and a small counterweight.
What the system does
Giorgio’s Paddle Tuning System translates what you like into a tape recipe for you:
- You tell it your paddle’s stock specs and your play style.
- You set a target balance feel (head‑light ↔ head‑heavy) and stability/power priorities.
- It computes a practical tape layout and, when needed, counterweights near the throat/handle to land the balance point you want.
- You get a clear, step‑by‑step recipe you can build and iterate on.
Result: a paddle that swings the way you need at your level — not a copy of someone else’s.

Notes
- Always verify your league/tournament rules for allowable modifications.
- If you change grips or overwraps later, re‑check the balance point; small changes matter.
